“Sailing ship with two masts (foremast and mast), square sails and bowsprit. Usually employs a mainsail to the mast. Was used as a smallship of war with 12-20 guns on deck. There are two more versions:- Brig pole: sailing ship with three vertical masts. The foremast and the mast with square sails, the mizzenmast sails; had the bowsprit. - Brigschooner: sailing ship with two vertical shafts. The one at the bow (foremast) with square sails, the one at the stern (mast) with sail gaff; had the bowsprit.”
