LEUDO regular

Giovanni Panella says that its origins are uncertain: they may derive from the Spanish “Catalan” boat or the ancient “lute” hull with lateen sail, used during the Reign of Sardinia. The craft, the most ancient picture of which appears to date back to 1790, was commonly used along the Ligurian coasts; it rapidly disappeared from the west coast and was used instead along the coast of Sestri Levante / Riva Trigoso to carry goods (cabotage) and sand. It became the nostalgic symbol of a time and a world long gone.
